Faculty of Marine Navigation

Overall Description;

The Marine Navigation faculty has gained a long tradition specializing in educating and training students of the Marine Navigation study field. The annual enrollment of students over the past several years has averaged 250. The total number of enrolled full-time students now stands at nearly 1,000. Over the past decade, the faculty has educated and trained more than 2,000 graduates for the international and national maritime industry and many graduates have been promoted to important positions in shipping governments and organizations.

The Navigation students are educated and trained conforming to the standards required by the Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training and International Maritime Organization, thereby fulfilling the national as well as international requirements and meeting the demands of the Maritime Industry.  The Marine Navigation academic program provides students with a progressive mix of basic knowledge and specialized competences. In addition, the graduates of this program are well equipped with adequate Maritime English Language knowledge for communication in a multinational working environment. They are also trained to gain basic programming and proficient specialized software usage skills. During the 5 year study time, the Navigation students have opportunities to access to learning and experimental facilities, including lecture halls, laboratory facilities, libraries, computer labs,   a sea chart room, a ship-handling simulator, a Radar simulator, a GMDSS simulator and a 2,300 DWT training vessel.

The Faculty of Marine Engineering

Overall Description;

The Faculty of Marine Engineering provides students with theoretical and practical analysis, production, operation, maintenance and repair of ships’ machineries and engines. The faculty educates and trains students to become Marine Engineers who are the members of a ship's crew that operate and maintain the propulsion and other systems onboard the vessel. They also possess an ability to communicate and function effectively with members of multi-national crews from a variety of backgrounds. The program also prepares them with a broad understanding of the energy and power industries. Therefore, the graduates are Well - equipped with not only specialized knowledge in the marine field, but also the ability to integrate the work of other engineering disciplines.

The Faculty of Marine Engineering offers the degree program specifically relevant to the propulsion and auxiliary machinery of ships and the power and control systems for other kinds of marine constructions - oil production platforms, underwater vehicles, sub-sea systems and offshore vehicles. Our well-equipped diesel engine research laboratories, computing and other facilities ensure that the students can learn and practice at the same time. Upon graduation the students will have participated in and been evaluated for their competency on the Training Ship, and in industry.

The Faculty of Marine Engineering consists of two departments, including The Department of Diesel Engine and Auxiliary Machineries and The Department of Repair and Refrigeration.

The faculty has closely cooperated with the Maritime Training Center to train and certify engineer officers at managerial and operational levels (see Maritime Training Centre).

The faculty offers undergraduate, graduate, junior college, in-service and upgrading programs (see Faculty of In-Service Training).
